UPAC CASE STUDIES

Esperance Bakery Bread Bags – Redz Pies

BRIEF:

Upac is pleased to have partnered with Esperance Bakery – Redz Pies in Western Australia. Redz enjoys rave reviews such as “…their bread was exceptionally tasty, so lovely and soft on the inside and had a perfect hard crust” so the new bread bags needed to reflect their amazing loaves.

Redz have recently come on the journey with Upac. Taking them from the costly process of manually applying labels to plain bags, to having professionally designed printed bags developed by Upac’s Artroom and excitedly bounding forward in business growth and progression.

Duraplas plastic bags are manufactured to meet the high standard of food safety and carry the HACCP certification mark. As the Duraplas bread bags have contact with food, the HACCP accreditation scheme offered Redz the assurance the bread bags are food safe.

Redz bread is in hot demand and needs to reach the customer hot, fresh and fast. The team needed a wicketed bread bag that would reduce handling time and provide smooth bagging operations. The bread bags also need to be strong – and keep the bread fresh for as long as possible.

Redz was looking for food safe bread bags that were made from Virgin food safe material. The brief included that the bread bags didn’t contain bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates or epoxidised soybean oil (ESBO) for example. Upac was able to offer Redz a selection of choices from both low density polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP) bags to suit their application.

Upac was selected by Redz as their packaging partner because Upac has adhered to the same, rigorous safety standards as Redz does every day. This enables Redz to focus on baking amazing fresh bread knowing that the plastic bags they use are safe for their product and customers.

Not only are DURAPLAS bags safe for Redz and their customers  – they are also better for the environment. Each bread bag is fully recyclable through the REDcycle program, which transforms Duraplas bags and other soft plastics into a wide range of new products. Some examples include outdoor benches and play equipment, bins and even road base. Each Redz bag now features handy symbols to make it even easier for consumers to recycle. This is also great news for the supermarkets who retail Redz bread and are equally committed to environmental responsibility.

DURAPLAS bags feature easy to recognise recycling symbols printed on all bags to help customers recycle them responsibly. The symbols are designed to be easily recognisable. The logos provide customers with all the information they need at a glance to make the right recycling choice. The symbol helps reduces the chance that Redz bread bags will end up in landfill.

The DURAPLAS range of LDPE polythene bags is recognised for having the most reliable and highest quality bags that ensure the safe handling, protection and containment of foods, industrial product and manufactured componentry. With a strong bottom closed seal for packaging fasteners, foods, manufactured product, painted products and more, the Duraplas range is quality guaranteed and have been in use for over 30 years in Australia.
