Packaging for Australian Meat, Poultry and Seafood Processors
We supply the full range of packaging for meat, poultry and seafood processing operations across Australia. Carton liners, liner sheets, non-entrapment solutions, lidding film and containers. All food-safe. All HACCP-accredited supply.
In protein processing, packaging failure is a food safety failure
Meat, poultry and seafood processing operates under some of the most stringent food safety requirements in Australian food manufacturing. Every packaging material that contacts product must be food-grade, contamination-free, and fit for purpose across chilled, frozen, and ambient handling conditions.
Packaging failure in this category does not just mean damaged product. It means exudate leakage into cartons, cross-contamination between production lines, compliance failures during audit, and product that cannot be sold. UPAC supplies both sides of the operation from one HACCP-accredited source with fast, reliable delivery across Australia.

Packaging products for meat, poultry and seafood processing operations
Three core product categories. All food-safe.

Carton Liners
Food-grade HDPE and LDPE carton liners for fresh and frozen meat, poultry and seafood. Prevents exudate leakage into outer cartons and protects product from contamination during storage and transport. Available in a range of thicknesses, sizes and colours.

Liner Sheets and Slap Sheets
Thin food-grade plastic sheets for layer separation, product handling, and contamination barrier between cuts in deli, butchery, and processing environments. Speeds up handling at the production line and reduces cross-contamination risk.

Non-Entrapment Carton Liners
Carton liners with non-entrapment gusset seals that prevent liner material from being pulled into processing equipment or entrapped in product during packing. Required in high-volume meat and poultry processing facilities.

Lidding Film
Easy-peel, high-barrier, anti-fog and skin film grades for sealing fresh meat, poultry and seafood trays. Compatible with APET, PP, CPET and PE tray materials. Available in plain and custom printed formats for retail-ready presentation.

Containers
APET, PP and CPET rigid containers for retail display and processing of fresh, chilled and frozen meat, poultry and seafood. Compatible with lidding film for tray-sealed retail packs. Available in a range of sizes and depths to suit different protein formats.
Protein processors face specific packaging pressures
that other food categories do not
Temperature
Control
Meat, poultry and seafood require strict cold chain management from processing through delivery. Packaging that cannot maintain temperature integrity increases spoilage risk, reduces shelf life, and puts food safety compliance at risk.
Leak and Moisture
Containment
Purge and liquid migration from protein products creates hygiene issues, contamination risk, and rejected deliveries. Packaging materials need to contain moisture consistently across the full carton or tray without failure in transit.
Load Stability
in Transit
Cartons of chilled and frozen protein are heavy, stacked high, and moved frequently. Without reliable liner and sheet protection, loads shift, cartons crush, and product arrives damaged, leading to freight claims and supply chain disruptions.
Food Safety
Compliance
Protein processing facilities operate under strict HACCP, FSANZ, and export compliance requirements. Packaging materials that contact or line product cartons must meet food-grade standards and support traceability and audit requirements.
Keep your processing line supplied without carrying excess stock in a food-safe environment
A protein processing operation cannot carry weeks of carton liners and film on the production floor. Cold storage space is too valuable and hygiene requirements too strict. Our managed inventory program holds your full packaging range in our HACCP-accredited warehouse and delivers on a schedule matched to your production calendar. You get consistent supply without the storage burden.
Stock Held in Our Facility
Your full range, from line-level labels and bags through to pallet film and protection products, is held in our HACCP-accredited warehouse and replenished to your forecast.
Delivery Matched to Your Production Schedule
Weekly, fortnightly, or on-demand delivery scheduled around your production runs. Adjusted as your volumes grow or change across the year.
Free Up Your Warehouse Space
Stop using refrigerated or temperature-controlled space to store bulk packaging materials. We hold them in our facility and deliver them when your operation needs them.
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions meat, poultry and seafood processors
most commonly ask us about packaging selection, compliance, and supply.
What is the difference between HDPE and LDPE carton liners for meat processing?
HDPE carton liners are thinner and stiffer, typically used for boneless cuts at thicknesses from 14 to 35 micron. They offer good puncture resistance for their weight. LDPE liners are heavier gauge, more flexible, and better suited to bone-in cuts, export product, and applications requiring extra puncture and leak resistance, typically from 45 to 65 micron. Our team can advise on the right specification for your product and processing conditions.
What are non-entrapment carton liners and when are they required?
Non-entrapment carton liners have a specially designed gusset seal that prevents liner material from being pulled into processing equipment or becoming entrapped in product during automated or high-speed packing. They are required in high-volume meat and poultry processing facilities where standard gusseted liners pose a machinery entrapment or product contamination risk.
What lidding film is suitable for fresh red meat retail trays?
For fresh red meat, high-barrier or skin film grades are typically used to extend shelf life by limiting oxygen transmission. Anti-fog film is used where product visibility in chilled retail display is a priority. Easy-peel grades balance consumer convenience with a seal that holds through retail handling. We confirm film-to-tray compatibility before supply.
Can your containers and lidding film be used for retail-ready seafood packs?
Yes. Our APET and PP containers paired with anti-fog or high-barrier lidding film are suited to retail-ready fresh and chilled seafood packs. Anti-fog film is particularly important for seafood display as it maintains clear product visibility in chilled cabinets. For frozen seafood, we can advise on the right film and container combination for your storage and display conditions.
Do your carton liners meet Australian food safety and export requirements?
Yes. All carton liners we supply are manufactured from food-grade virgin polyethylene resin and meet Australian food contact material requirements. For export product, we supply heavier gauge LDPE liners in specifications suitable for domestic and international market requirements. Contact our team with your export destination and product specifications and we will confirm the right liner format.
What slap sheets do you recommend for deli and smallgoods slicing operations?
For deli slicing and smallgoods operations, we supply food-grade HDPE slap sheets in standard sizes suitable for wrapping and separating sliced meats, smallgoods, and deli cuts. They provide a reliable moisture and contamination barrier between product and work surfaces and between sliced layers during storage and handling.
How quickly can you deliver packaging to our processing facility?
Standard stock orders are delivered within 2 business days across most of Australia. For operations with consistent high-volume needs, our managed inventory program holds your stock in our HACCP-accredited warehouse and delivers on a schedule matched to your production calendar.
Can I get samples before committing to a full order?
Yes. We provide samples of carton liners, slap sheets, lidding film and containers before you commit to a full order. Contact our team with your product type, processing equipment details, and any compliance or export requirements and we will arrange the appropriate samples.
